A LITTLE ABOUT

I love the work that I do, and am so honored to walk alongside my clients in their journey of healing and growth.

I believe one of the most important pieces of effective therapy is finding a therapist you connect with and you can trust.  Let me share a little about me, how I work with my clients, and my beliefs about the therapy process.

One of the most beautiful things about humans is our capacity for resilience.  Even when life's problems sometimes feel so persistent and complicated that attempting to solve them seems like a lost cause, I believe that even the most daunting problems and overwhelming pain can be resolved with curiosity, attention, skill, and care.

I think great therapy should be collaborative, dynamic, and fun.  While it’s essential to make space to process the hurt, sadness, and difficulties that life inevitably brings, I also think a therapist should help their clients discover a deeper understanding of themselves, as well as enhance their strengths and instill hope. We will start wherever you are and work together to create a better life for you and your relationships.

I love working with both individuals and couples and chose to pursue education in marriage and family therapy because humans do not exist in isolation.  We are hardwired for connection.  We want to feel like we belong.  We want to be accepted and loved for who we are, especially in the relationships that matter to us most.  The more we can navigate those relationships – including the one we have with ourselves – the more equipped we are to flourish.

WHEN I'M NOT HELPING CLIENTS, I ENJOY...

  • Playing with my dog, Ponyo - I adopted him from the Dumb Friends League in Denver, CO.  While I don't know for sure, I think he's part Beagle, part Australian Cattle Dog.  On occasion, Ponyo comes to the office with me.  I will first check in with your comfort level of having him join our sessions before bringing him to the office on a day we meet.  Your needs will always take priority.

  • Traveling – I love adventures.  When I moved from Virginia to Colorado several years ago, I completed a 5 week cross-country road trip where I hiked and camped through several of the National Parks all over the country.  Two of my favorite abroad trips were a backpacking trip through France, Switzerland, and Italy, as well as a recent trip to Iceland where I had an opportunity to see the Northern Lights.  I’m dreaming of a trip to South East Asia next!

  • Studying design and art - I love photography, painting, and interior decorating.  Tapping into a creative outlet is something I consider essential to self care.
